Shade gardens have some of the greatest plants for foliage. The color is just a bonus.

What do you think is the focal point when you look at this picture? My eye goes to the urn. I still think the fast and easy (make it happen immediately) way to jazzing up a garden is strong pottery colors or sizes.

Yes, perennials do have a place in the front of a house or even in small beds. But you need to chose plants that have beautiful foliage since they won't bloom the whole time.

Shape, Form, Focal Points take this otherwise non-descript spot from well... non-descript, to a great use of an otherwise boring spot. Note that the use of shade plants and the curving steps work with the setting, not against. Don't you just want to climb up those steps to see where they lead? Mystery is good!
